nuclear import inhibitor - (Jun/14/2006 )

Hi!
I would like to inhibit the nuclear import in immortilized MEFs. Inhibition should last about 2 hours and not lead to detachment of cells. Any suggestions about which inhibitors to use?

While the exact mechanism hasn't been described as far as I know, the p53 inhibitor pifithrin alpha is speculated to work by inhibiting nuclear import. Its worth looking into whether this is a generalized effect or one only impacting p53 import.
