Force or agent for evolution - (May/15/2006 )
Hi there
Can some one pleasehelp me with this!!!!
What does it mean force or agent of change eg: An African butterfly species exists in 2 strikingly different colour patterns...and its a table (of fill ins)..and it asks for the force or agent of change????
Help would be much appreciated

i would imagine it would be refering to the fator that drove the evolutionary split
ie: change in plants species, predators etc
ie: change in plants species, predators etc
I would agree that would most likely be what it means.
However I'm curious can you give more details on the question (or was that it?)...
Hi thanks for the reply
umm well we are given a few scenarios eg: An African butterfly species exists in 2 strikingly different colour patterns and are asked to name the force/agent acting on the allelle frequencies in the population and indicate the influence on diversity/variation and adaption..
hmm so does this include things like cladogenesis??? (if that is the right spelling)
I don't know if that (cladogenesis) would necessarily be the force acting on the allele frequencies ... I would imagine it would more be like the end result of the variation ... I imagine it would be more along the lines of sexual selection or geographical seperation or even just natural selection?
Try this website out ... http://arnica.csustan.edu/Biol1010/evolution/evolution.htm
(I think by looking at this website it might give you some ideas as to what your force/agents are).
Hi there jamie419
Thank you SO much for that site...its REALLY helpful!!..I think I've finally grasped the concept of forces/agent
THANK YOU!!
