Questions about Northern blotting - (May/09/2006 )

Northern blots of RNA isolated from cow spleen and lung tissue and probed with a fragment from a cloned gene revealed two hybridizing bands from spleen but only one from lung.
I have a few questions about this observation. blink.gif

1)Can trans-splicing be a possible explanation?

2)Is it possible that there is a different gene with a similar sequence that is transcribed only in the spleen, so that the spleen gives 2 bands while the lung only gives 1?

3)Can the presence of a pseudogene in the spleen give rise to the second band?
