could anybody tell me what are the advantages of chip over emsa.

EMSA is a lot easier to perform than ChIP, however ChIP provides data from a cellular system whereas EMSA is completely in vitro. It depends on what you are trying to prove and how much detail you need.

ChIP will take into account epigenetic factors as well as differential expression of transcription factors whilst EMSA can certainly not do the first one and does not necessarily do the second.

What are you trying to do?

Actually I do not think EMSA is easier to ChIP since you have to purify the transcription factor

Absolutely no need to purify your protein. You just need a reasonable quality nuclear extract and then you use supershift to prove it's the protein under investigation. Simple!
