Ribosomes - (Apr/29/2006 )

I want to know that ribsomal RNA encode proteins to form ribosomes or just ribosomal RNA fold to form a structure of ribosomes which help in transcription

-samita-

the ribosome is a very complex arrangement of molecules. It contains a lot of protein and also RNA. this ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is not decoded into protein, but is part of the ribosome. of course all other ribosomal proteins are encoded by some mRNA. the rRNA plays an important role in all steps of translation.

yeah i got te point but how these proteins and ribomomes are connected to each other. Through covalent bond or vander wall radii forces

-samita-

hm, as far as i remember the are just assemblies which means no covalent bonds.

-Kersten-

hi
it's part of affinity related to hydrogen bonds between pre folded RNA and proteins.
