Types of serum for stem cell growth - (Apr/05/2006 )

I'm in doubt about the fact that some companies cell a serum that is specific for stem cell growth because regular serum may have inhibitory factors. Is that true or a myth? What concentration of serum is recommended?

I'm pretty sure it is a myth. It is odd that it is more expensive don't you think? Is this telling us something? I always batch test serum and would not rely on a company telling me that one particular serum is best. If that was the case everyone would use the same one!

10% FCS is most often used but if you are hard up you can use a mix of 5% FCS and 5% NCS but be sure to test them both !
