Growth factors - Neural Growth Factor (Mar/27/2006 )

Hi,
I am having troubles find if Neural growth factor is the same as Nerve Growth Factor ?
I am wanting to purchase Neural Growth Factor and all my efforts direct me to NGF, but NGF is known as Nerve growth Factor.

hi,
i personaly work with NGF=nerve growth factor, and only once read in an article about neural growth factor, however latter it was found out as a mistake and the authors intendent to write nerve growth factor.
if you will write what exactely you want to do this may help to think further.
my guess would be that you need nerve growth factor in any case...be in touch

What I am trying to do is culture some primary neural cells from Rats. An old protocol which I was handed used DMEM + Serum and Neural Growth factor. I am having troubles finding a Neural growth factor supplier. I have tried Sigma and they do not have it only NGF (Nerve).

I have a used a commercial supplier for culturing my primary nerual cells, however did not get much satification.
Are you able to help ?

hi, as you describe it i think that you need nerve growth factor (NGF). it may be some kind of mistake that you got with your protocol...
more over i suggest to look for someother sourse for NGF other than Sigma...
