how stable is blasticidin? - (Mar/25/2006 )

I'm using invitrogen T-REX systems in my T84 epithlial cells. According to invitrogen instructions, I need to add blasticidin into medium to select for plasmid bearing cells. I'm quite new in doing this so I don't know how stable this kind of antibiotic is. How long it can last in medium? and how long can it last if a thaw out a 500ul aliquote from -20 and store it at 4oC. Does it hurt to antibiotic if every 2 days I thaw it out and freeze it back after use?

Thanks

Here's Invitrogen's manual on it. Page 2 lists the info you want.

Hi

I have been using Blasticidin stocks frozen for over a year now, the product manual says not to freeze/thaw, so I havn't done that, but mine keeps fine in the fridge for over a month wrapped in tinfoil.

Cheers

That's very helpful. Thanks! Now I needn't worry about the fact that I did 500ul frozen aliquotes instead of 50ul.
