RT-PCR - Q-PCR (Feb/02/2006 )

CAN ANY BODY EXPLAIN ME WHAT IS REALT TIME (RT-PCR) AND REVERSE TRANSCRIPTASE PCR.
WHAT INFORTAION WE CAN GET FROM REAL TIME PCR. WHATS ITS PURPOSE AND
WHAT INFORMATION WE CAN GET FROM QPCR AND NOT FROM NORMAL PCR.

*wince*

there is no need to shout

try this link

I found it at protocol_online.org

I suspect you can also get some great info if you go to www.google.com and search "real-time pcr tutorial" and "rt-pcr tutorial"

we are more than happy to help, but please do your homework before posting questions

good luck huh.gif

Real-time PCR (referred as qPCR/quantitative PCR) and RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase PCR) are very confusing terms when u abbreviate them. Thus, Real time PCR are not to be referred as RT-PCR. Real-time PCR may be used for general PCR as well as reverse transcriptase PCR..

Real-time PCR assays provide quantitative data as when the reaction proceeds. Conventional PCR/ RT-PCR supports only end time analysis.

Samples presumed positive by conventional PCR often require
confirmation by DNA sequencing.. Real-time assays provide an in-built probe-based confirmation

Other benefits include rapidity & ease of interpretation of results.

For clinical advances in real time PCR and for a nice review of the actual technique, if you don't like to read web pages.

That Wong and Medrano article is a good one, and you can access it online for free from biotechniques.
