Washing with Trypsin EDTA - (Dec/26/2005 )

Hello
I have a question: Can I wash my cell culture with Trypsin EDTA instead PBS?

If you just add it let it on there for a few seconds and then remove it, I don't see why not. Most cell lines take severall minutes in trypsin to detach, so it shouldn't be a problem. I don't see why you want to do it either as trypsin is more expensive than PBS.

I don't see why you would want to do that either, but if it makes sense to you, you should make sure, that the medium is removed properly, cause the serum will inactivate trypsin, or at least weaken it and you would have to leave it on the cells longer than if you have washed them with PBS before you apply trypsin.
