cucumber/carrot - ?/? (Nov/11/2005 )

Coconut is not a fruit though... its a nut.

I don't think many nuts float.
Nuts have the general tendancy to sink... but I don't think it has to do with the xylem or phloem content.

Hi

it's very simple, and that your thinking is correct. carrot is a type of root and it has conducting ducts like xylem and phloem with hard tissue. But in cucumber it's a product( Fruit) and it is a light weigt tissue fruit. It also contains that same ducts for water and other materials conduction.

It may satisfy you smile.gif

ok

Ya. it's the fact. cucumber contains lot of small air sacs in it's tissue part that's y it float.
