extracting protein from trizol - (Aug/10/2009 )

Hello everyone!

I have a doubt concerning protein extraction using trizol. I dont know if anyone had ever used this protocol, but during the procedure, when you have to dissolve the protein pellet in SDS, a huge white pellet is still present at the eppendorf and it seems to be unsoluble. Do anyone have any idea of whats happening?

Thanks!

Hi Dan,

If the sample has been washed sufficiently and heating the pellet to 50C during dissolution doesn't work, then the white pellet is probably insoluble material. Just discard it.

I've been trying to do protein extraction using Trizol as well. I think the huge white pellet is still protein. Has anyone else had experience on dissolving the protein pellet after isolation using Trizol?
