UNIJET II and UNIVAPO ECH 150 - how to use (Aug/06/2009 )

I need speedvac for my cDNA precipitation purpose, however my lab only has UNIJET II and UNIVAPO ECH 150 which is also a vacuum concentrator. Do you this equipment works the same function as speedvac? i neither use speedvac and this equipment before, but i got to learn how to use in order for my cDNA precipitation. Can gimme any advice? Thx

the univapo ech is similar to the speedvac.

the unijet ii is a vacuum pump. if it pulls a good enough vacuum then the combination is fine for your purpose.

Thanks mdfenko,

In fact i don't know how to operate this equipment. Any advise for beginner like me? like if i want to dry my RNA pellet, shd i use the default setting or manual setting? What parameter i shd look into? Thanks

my experience is with the speedvac.

leave the tubes open (or put a hole in the cap with a needle), close the lid, start the centrifuge then apply vacuum.

run until dry (or as close to dry as you want).

you can try contacting the manufacturer and ask for a manual:
uniequip

or montreal biotech
