where can I find lamda-pir DH5a? - (Jul/30/2009 )

Hello,
I'm sorry to bother with such a simple question, but does anyone know if lamda-pir DH5a is avalible from a company? I can't seem to find it anywhere and it seems like such a common thing. If anyone could help me ge ahold of this I'd really appricate it.
Thank you

You can search for pGP704 or its derivative pCVD442 and insert these plasmids into your DH5alpha to get the suicide gene. They should be readily available from a number of commercial vendors.

pGP704 is lambda pir-dependent, it does not carry the lambda pir gene.

If what you're looking for is simply a lambda pir strain, but not specifically DH5a, you can try SM10 lambda pir or S17-1 lambda pir.

In any event, in most cases you don't need to buy the strain from a company, you may be able to request a culture from someone you know, someone in the field, or contact someone that used it in a paper. There are also E. coli strain repositories you could contact to get a strain. It may cost $50 or $60 going that route...

I am looking specifically for a DH5a, but thank you for the link. I will certainly check there.
