protein complex and siRNA - (Jul/27/2009 )
Hi All, if two proteins interact and one of them is silenced by siRNA, what would happen to the expression of another one? I would very much appreciate any idea about this. Many thanks in advance.

I guess you will see the difference in the expression level only if your targeting protein is somehow regulating the expression of the interacting protein.You might even observe some functional differences like chromatin binding.if these two proteins are in a big complex, down regulation of one would lead to the collapse of entire complex as it is shown for MCM.

Sometimes when one member of a stable protein complex is degraded or down-regulated artificially, other members of the same complex exhibit increased turnover/degradation as the complex becomes unstable and the proteins dissociate.
