Human Serum help - Help please (Jul/15/2009 )

Hey
I need to culture my cells in 10% human serum. However every time I mix it with medium it precipitates. I tried all techniques but nothing. What to do now. The medium when transfer to +4C looks like gelly :)

this sounds really strange. Where did you get your serum from? I never had such problem with human serum (from companies or home made)

Just a thought:

You are using serum and not plasma?
If you are making your own serum, remember to collect blood without anticoagulant, allow to clot for at least 30 minute at room temp. before harvesting serum.

Hope this helps

I agree with the above post.

Medium + plasma = clot (I grow in plasma clots all the time)
