Establishing a new cell line - (Jun/17/2009 )

We are culturing a tumor and i'm wondering how many passages out do you need to go before really believing you've established a "cell line"?

Out to a point beyond the normal Hayflick limit for a particular cell type would be one definition, however there are quite a few cell lines out there that are not truly immortal.
