need correction on dilution - please help urgent (Jun/15/2009 )

1. I have 1000ug/ml of Sample A. I need to bring it to 200ul final volume and 10ug final concentration.

C1V1=C2V2
C1 = 1000ug/ml
V1 = x
C2 = 10ug/0.2ml = 50ug/ml
V2 = 200ul

V1 = (50*200) / 1000
V1 = 10ul

10ul of stock + 190ul water = 200ul of 10ug of Sample A

2. I have 2000ng/ul of Sample B. I need to bring it to 200ul final volume and 10ug final concentration.

C1 = 2000ng/ul = 2000ug/ml
V1 = x
C2 = 10ug/0.2ml = 50ug/ml
V2 = 200ul

V1 = (50*200) / 2000
V1 = 5ul

5ul of stock + 195ul water = 200ul of 10ug of Sample B

Your calculations are correct

10ug is not a concentration, it is an amount.
If you need 10ug total, your calculation is correct.
