Can RIPA buffer be frozen - (Jun/05/2009 )

Can RIPA buffer be frozen for long-term storage?

Most of the components in RIPA buffer would be stable at -20 deg C (salts, tris, etc), however, if your RIPA buffer contains protease or phosphatase inhibitors, these will not be stable for long-term storage. We store RIPA buffer containing these for a max of 3-4 wks at -20 deg C. We do not use RIPA buffer with protease/phosphatase inhibitors if it has been stored for more than 1 month.
