Methods to determine the oligomeric state of a protein - (Mar/25/2009 )

Dear all,

I am currently working on a bacterial enzyme and would like to know its oligomeric state in vivo. I've found some methods such as performing cross-linking with dimethyl suberimidate or non-denaturing PAGE. I would like to ask if there are any other methods and which one would be a better one. And what would be the most preliminary method to check the oligomeric state?

Thanks in advance!

Hey,

Gel filtration chromatography, gluteraldehyde crosslinking, analytical ultracentrifugation.

Try GPC first.
