Mycobacterial housekeeping genes - (Mar/08/2009 )

Hi,
I'm currently running an experiment profiling mycobacterium paratuberculosis gene expression in two groups: 1) broth culture and 2) bovine macrophages. I'm having a hard time finding a good, steady housekeeping gene. I've looked at hsp65 and secA and although they are constant within the specific treatment, they vary between broth culture and macrophages. 16SrRNA gene is not an option since the enrichment method eliminated all rRNAs. Any advice on a better housekeeper?

I’ve never worked with mycobacterium, but try TATA-box binding protein (TBP), Hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT).
