Has anyone had experience with GM2163 (dam-) cells? - the enzyme BclI is blocked by dam (Feb/16/2009 )

Hi, guys, I got GM2163 cells from Fermentas and prepared competent cells. I transformed pCDF into the cells, however, I got many many colonies on control (without transformation). I have checked the product description from Fermentas and didn't see anything about antibiotics. I was thinking maybe my antibiotics (Str for pCDF) didn't work, so I picked up colonies from control to grow in fresh LB with new antibiotics. THe cells were still growing!

Now I am checking the cells from Fermentas, let them grow in fresh LB with antibiotics. Hopefully they will not grow..

If you have experience with dam- cells, please share with me. Did those cells work for you?

Oh my, they are Str resistant ~~~!!!! Sorry to bother you all !!
