Autoclave pipette - O-ring (Feb/14/2009 )

As I understand beside main body, almost all the other parts of pipette can be autoclaved.

However, I forget can O-ring autoclave?
Can anyone share a light what will happen if I autoclave pipette parts with o-ring in it?

Thanks a lot

Yes, pipette can be autoclaved.
But they have to be calibrated afterwards. Some times relubricated to.
This usually means that they will no longer be sterile.

For Gilson pipettes the o-ring should not be autoclaved; it's a kind of sealing and a disposable that should anyway renewed from time to time. We have always some in stock (sometimes they disappear if you open the pipette  ). And they are quite cheap.
