New Technology in Real Time PCR - latest technologies (Feb/06/2009 )

hi,

I am a postgraduate student. I want to pursue my project on following topic New technologies in Real time PCR and informatics need. Can any one suggest me the latest upcoming technology in Real Time PCR and its informatics need.

Thank you

I suggest you look up powerpoints on Real Time PCR, on page 2I saw a title with new technology in melting analysis (a component of real time PCR analysis).

Hi Kate,

Real time PCr (rtPCR) has been around for quite some time now. A lot of products these days are moving towards higher throughputs (96 & 384 well plates etc..), and more recently some companies have been plugging away new technologies, such as high resolution melt (HRM), which is like the name suggests, a higher resolution version of melting curve analyses. This is claimed to allow you to detect very small nucleotide differences between amplified templates, down to increments of 0.1C. This is, im my opionion, a touchy technology that has quite a few pitfalls however.

rtPCR has also been applied to some microarrays I believe, but that technology is so widespread yet.

Hope that helps a little!
