RNA isolation RBC RPE buffer swap - (May/03/2018 )

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to continue isolation when you have first used RPE buffer (washing RNA) in stead of RBC buffer (binding RNA to column) on the columns?

Is there any way to save the RNA?

Help is needed!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you have just lost your RNA - the binding buffer makes it a particular pH which allows the RNA to bind to the column. The washing buffer is largely ethanol and will precipitate the RNA (so it doesn't get washed off the column after binding), but won't let it bind if the RNA is not already bound.
