Understanding the calculation - (Feb/15/2017 )

Hi,

I'm bit lost and want to know if I'm doing it right.

I have an antibody and the data sheet says use it at 1-5 µg/ml. Does this mean that the antibody needs to be diluted between 1:1000 - 1:5000?

Thanks.

Depends on the concentration of the antibody. Have a look at the data sheet and tube, there should be a concentration on one or both of them. Hopefully it will say something like 1 mg/ml in which case a 1:1000 dilution will give you 1 ug/ml, and a 1:200 will give you 5 ug/ml.
