Database of only characterized proteins - (Sep/06/2016 )

I wish to know if the amino acid sequences of a bacterial enzyme of my interest shows any similarity with the already-characterized enzymes from other bacteria. The problem that I encounter is that most of the sequences obtained in NCBI BLAST results are uncharacterized. Is there any tool to BLAST my sequenced against the database containing only characterized proteins? CharProtDB was one such tool; but the project has been discontinued and the database not updated since many years.

Thanks

Tried https://www.expasy.org/?

Uniprot? The Swissprot subset only contains proteins that have been manually curated, so the highest degree of reliability you can find respect to annotated prot seqs.
