Can microglia stain positive for phagocytosed material? - (May/30/2016 )

Hello Bioforumers,

Does anyone know if it is possible for microglia to become immunoreactive for antigens that they have phagocytosed? I performed xenotransplantation of human cells into mouse brains and found some microglia to be positive for human-specific antigens.

Thanks in advance happy.png .

Well, microglia are APCs, so I would expect them to partially digest and present on the surface everything they encounter.
