iTRAQ or ELISA? - (Feb/01/2016 )

Hi all

I would like to know if you think iTRAQ is a good technique for this objective:

I wish to perform a time course of the protein profile in cells treated with a drug in the following time points: 0, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24, 48h.

I am afraid that iTRAQ will be too expensive and my supervisor told me to look for alternatives. I can try custom made ELISAs but these are not as broad as proteomic analysis, and I think it is expensive too...

What do you recommend iTRAQ or ELISA?

I don't know how you will use ELISA for this? Are you looking for single protein profile or general proteome? I think iTRAQ can give you good results, if you want to see the regulation of many proteins. you can use 8plex kit for 8 time points. It is expensive for sure, but is fast and robust.
