Insanely difficult time trying to cast large FACE gel for PROTEAN XI system - (Nov/03/2015 )

I'm trying to perform fluorphore assisted carbohydrate electrophoresis and would like to run a large and longer gel, so I'm using the PROTEAN XI system.  I'm quite sure I've set up everything correctly, the major problem that I'm having is that acrylamide keeps getting behind my comb making my wells garbage when I take it out.  FACE is a little different than westerns, but I'm guessing the same principles of gel casting would apply.  I've also tried to let my gel cast for as little time as possible, held the gel upside down while removing the comb, and then trying to pipette vigorously to remove any excess gel solution before it polymerizes in the wells.  Unfortunately this still does not work, and I still have a big problem with polymerization in my wells.  Any tips on how to correct this annoying issue?   FACE can be done without a stacking gel, FYI.

It's not really a solution, but it sounds like the comb is narrower than the spacers, you could investigate the thickness of the comb and spacers and see if they are the same.
