Using qPCR machine for simple PCR, is it possible? - (Sep/29/2015 )

Hi everyone! We've got only a qPCR machine in our lab, but I need to do a simple PCR. Maybe it is a stupid question, but I haven't got a clean answer yet.

Yes, you can simply ignore the fluorescence readings. But they are useful in monitoring a normal PCR, since you can tell how many cycles are really required to amplify your sample.

Thank you for your useful answer!

You can also take the products of a qPCR (or regular PCR run on a qPCR machine) and run them on a gel like normal.
