lysate protein concentration - (Sep/06/2015 )

Is it possible to concentrate the bacterial lysate for functional assays (no western blots)? is the speedvac ok?

Speed vac is not recommended for concentrating protein for functional assays. It'll increase the concentration of everything (salts, nucleic acids, etc) and will warm up your sample.

Instead, use a small filter concentrator. You can buy 0.5ml centrifuge concentrators that will concentrate your protein but not the salts, etc.
