Website for creating scientific figures - (Aug/18/2015 )

Dear All,

I am searching for a website or free software to help me creating figures and charts that one see in nature papers. Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

For images such as flow charts try Inkscape. For statistical charts/graphs try "R" statistical package (note hard to use but very very customizable).

Thanks for this, but I mean figures like mitochondria, viruses and other scientific figures.

In that case, Inkscape is the one you want, it is a drawing package (free version of Adobe illustrator), which enables you to make scalable vector graphics. There are heaps of good tutorials available on Youtube and elsewhere on the net too.

Note that you can use images from creative commons (e.g. wikimedia) for free (just need attribution for the image usually) as a backbone for any image you create.

These sites contain free images that you can use to assemble you own figure, always with proper acknowledgment of their origin of course.
