Flourescence visualization - (Jul/16/2015 )

I know this is not cloning per se,  but does anyone know what is the person in the picture (url below, couldn't put actual picture) using to visualize the fluorescence in the colonies without the use of a microscope. what kind of device is this?

Are there cheap lamps one can buy to see this in a dark room?

Thanks

Unfortunately I don't think your link is working properly - ends up on a "there is no file page". However, it is likely to be a light table of some sort, similar to a transilluminator from a gel visualizer.

The posting software cut off the trailing part of the file name.  Add back the !.tif to the url to see the  file.

I suspect this was done on a blue light transilluminator (but note that this is really not the best detection of dsred). On the other hand, it is easy and appears to work.
