Inhibition of PCR amplification of bacterial genomic DNA by RNA - (Jul/07/2015 )

Hello, can anyone tell me if RNA in a bacterial genomic DNA sample will inhibit PCR?  If so, how does the RNA inhibit this process?

It shouldn't much. If you are worried and want to test this - add some RNase and digest the RNA, then re-purify the DNA. Usually PCR inhibition from any sample, but especially bacterial samples is due to compounds from the cells (or medium) coming through in the prep. Try diluting your DNA 1:100 and see if it now works in the PCR.
