1 in 2 dilution of a powder help please - (Jul/06/2015 )

Hi ,  I basically need to make a 1 in 2 dilution of a solid material and i dont know how to do that.  The material is in powder form so i need to make it liquid so that i can use it for a microbiology test in the lab. So this is why i need to dilute it and i have decided to make a 1 in 2 dilution of it with sterile water. But I do not understand how much of the powder i will be putting in to how much water.

if i have 0.10 g  for example, how much would i need of this and how much of water to make a 1 in 2 dilution   ?

Help needed quick

i think you want to solubilize to a final volume of 0.2ml.

1 in 2 = 50% dilution which is usually 50g in 100 ml. So yeah as mdfenko said, 0.1 g in 0.2 ml

A little bit of nitpicking here, but 0.1g to a total volume of 0.2ml, not "in" 0.2ml (it seems a bit like: adding 50ng in 0.2ml like you wrote it)

Yes you're right, thank you. 100 mg in water quantum satis 200 ul. Better?
