DNA spin column to get RNA? - (Jun/24/2015 )

Hi, recently i run out of spin columns for my promega SV total RNA isolation system, i was wondering if anyone has used the column for DNA or plasmid extraction for a RNA extraction with good results?

I haven't used this kit. However, skimming the manual it looks like silica columns are used. If that is the case, DNA spin columns should work the same.

As far as I know, in most kits there is no difference between the DNA and RNA columns; the difference is additional QC testing on batches of RNA columns to ensure that the RNA columns are RNAse free. Some kits also package RNA columns differently to prevent contact with RNAses.
