Extraction of bands from SDS-PAGE - (Jun/23/2015 )

has anyone done extraction of bands from SDS-PAGE ? what percenatge of recovery is generally obtained ?

Generally peptide extraction from SDS-PAGE gels is done with enzymatic (e.g. tryptic) digests.

Extraction of intact proteins is not very common because it is slow and low yielding. Some options to do this include blotting onto membranes and extracting the band, or grinding up the gel band and soak it in buffer to let it diffuse out over the course of a couple days.
