Plasmid Methylation - (Dec/14/2014 )

Hi, does anyone know if there exist a commercial enzyme or protocol to remove methylation of dna extracted from a cell? one method is PCR but it's not very efficient in terms of yield when we are talking of plasmids.

The easiest way to do this is to transform them into a methylation deficient strain of E coli, or propagate them in one to start with.

This is what i'm doing now, but i'm trying to see if there are alternative ways.

I don't recall any DNA demethylases that are available commercially, they certainly won't be cheaper than methylation deficient bugs.
