2 types of cell lines for RNA extraction - (Nov/05/2014 )

Hello,

I am new to cell culture. Currently I am working with two cell lines THP1 & A549 currently. How many cells you will have to seed in a small dish for getting a decent quantity of RNA ?

It depends of the growth rate of your cell lines and the extraction protocol. For example for the RNeasy (Qiagen) you can't use more than 1 x 10⁷ cells for the assay (too much debris can clog the membrane) so you have to calculate base in the growth rate of your cells how much you have to seed to have the quantity for the day of assay.
