MAPK/MEK Inhibitor stored incorrectly! Is it still ok? - (Oct/13/2014 )

Hi All,

My lab recently purchased 100mg (as a powder) of the MAPK/MEK inhibitor PD0325901. It is recommended to store at -20 for up to 3 months.

The problem is I only just realised for the last 4 weeks it has been incorrectly stored at 4*C in our normal lab fridge.

Does anybody have an idea how stable this inhibitor is, and if this period at 4*C would have reduced its function?

Thanks for any tips!

Matt.

The usual advice in these sorts of situations would be to throw it out, but you could test it and see.

The throwing out is because, if you doubt something now, how will it affect your results later? Would you trust any result you get using a reagent that you have doubts about?

Thanks for the reply.

In case others are interested, In the end I contacted the manufacturer and they assured me that the compound is stable at 4*C for at least a month, and that for storage any longer, -20 /-80 is recommended.
