RPMI 1640 media - (Sep/23/2014 )

Hello, I'm trying to make RPMI media. I have "RPMI-1640 Medium with L-glutamine, without sodium bicarbonate, powder, suitable for cell culture" and when I look on-line, I have only came across recipes to make the media from liquid form. I'm cell culturing SH-SY5Y cells.

Hello,

Do you know by any chance the company name that your institute got this cell line from?

Otherwise, assuming that the cell lines were from ATCC.

Check this link:

http://www.lgcstandards-atcc.org/products/all/CRL-2266.aspx?geo_country=gb#culturemethod.

I personally use DMEM with L-glutamine and sodium bicarbonate (Already inside) with a 10% final concentration of FBS (Add) and pen/strep (Not recommended).

To obtain a final concentration of 10% FBS, remove 50 mL from a 500 mL medium (bottle) and add 50 mL FBS (also referred as FCS).

All right, when do you filter everything? After you add the FBS or before?
