Questions on mind uploading - (Sep/22/2014 )

I'm new here as you guessed and I'm doing research on mind uploading and I had 3 questions

1. Using the copy and transfer method what would your kind be uploaded to ? A super computer desktop ? A flotation tank ?

2. How would this affect things like sexual orientation ? Could that be left out, changed ?

3. Could this allow for time travel ?

You might realize that this technology isn't currently viable, so your questions are completely irrelevant as yet. However, given the evolution of computers, it is most likely (currently) that in the future mind/memories will be uploaded to solid state devices of some sort.  Note that this will not include personality etc, as that is also currently only a province of things biological.

You should talk to people of sexual orientations other than heterosexual a bit more... ask them if it is a choice or not!

No. Physics says so.

I mean I know it isnt a choice but would it be included in the future ? Also would mind uploading be like a virtual reality ?

Well, that would depend on what you upload - if it is just the information stored in the brain (e.g. memories), then it probably wouldn't be stored, but if you were attempting to upload everything, then you would include personality, sexuality, etc, as those are all integral to being that person. Perhaps you could change features artificially, but it wouldn't be the same person afterwards.

I doubt it would be like virtual reality, more like a storage, but it all depends on what happens to the information after the upload - is it still functioning?
