Does anyone know an alternative to Opticell culture cassettes? - (Aug/20/2014 )

Hello everyone.

For a new project that I am starting, the gas-permeable culture casettes "Opticell" seemed to be a perfect fit (see picture below). However, the item is discontinued. Does anyone know a suitable alternative? Thank you in advance!

Hello,

it depends on what you need to put inside.

Anyway, as alternatives there are

Celline      http://www.integra-biosciences.com/sites/celline.html

Miniperm    http://pdf.medicalexpo.com/pdf/sarstedt/miniperm/69921-86463.html

They act in the same way as Opticell does but they allow also nutrient exchange, not only gas. They are composed by a cell culture module (that is like Opticell) in wich cell grow and products are retained, and a nutrient module. This two compartments are divided by a semipearmeable membrane (10K cut off) that allow the exchange between cell culture and fresh medium in the nutrient compartment. This results in good viability of cells that can grow and produce and the product is concentrated in a small volume.

Celline is a static system, Miniperm is a rotating device.

I hope that this information will be useful. Please ask if you need.

The question was asked some years ago. Now you can use Petaka G3.
