measure of cell size - (Jul/31/2014 )

Hi all,

I want to measure the size of cells from slice, which are labeled with a specific antibody by immunofluorescence. I took pictures of the slices, and I open them in photoshop, to count the number of these cells.

As for cell size, I do not know how to do. some people uses Image J. NIH. but I don't know how to do it. I use Image J only to quantify western blot bands.

please if you have any suggestions, let me know

thank you very much in advance.

What you need is a calibration of your lenses, so that you can work out how many pixels there are per length. For this you need a stage micrometer (like a slide, but with a ruler etched into it) and you use that to set a known distance in your camera software. Otherwise you can take an image of the slide micrometer and use imageJ or similar to measure the number of pixels per length.
