if SDS micelle can go through the millipore centrifugation tube - (Jun/23/2014 )

Hello everyone,
I have one protein sample in 0.1% SDS buffer. Now I want to concentrate it with millipore centrifugation tube. I want to know how big the free SDS micelle is. Can it go through the membrane? By searching on the Internet, I know the SDS micelle is about 1-3nm. But I don not know if it can be holded by 10KD tube.
I need your help. Thank you very much.
love yours.

i'm not sure if the sds micelle  will pass through the pores of a 10 kDa filter (assuming it isn't broken up by conditions during concentration) but,if you want to ensure that the micelles don't co-concentrate with your protein then you can dilute the solution until the sds concentration is below the cmc (8mM in water). that way the sds monomers will pass through the filter while the protein is held up.
