Needle Configuration Advice - (Jun/19/2014 )

Good morning all,

Apologies for this horribly simple question, but I have recently been tasked with using an old piece of kit we have laying about, and I have no idea about needles/configurations, and what parts I might need to order, so I'm hoping someone here can help me!

I have attached a photo of the end of the needle holder, and the parts already attached.  Basically, this is an oxygen monitor, so I just need to fit a needle onto the end of this somehow.  The small white section has a tiny hole in in, which I assume a needle fits into.

The (very old, stained) manual tells me the needles required are 23G x 1.25" or 21G x 1.5".

Any help would be hugely apprieciated!

Thanks very much

This looks somewhat like a luer lock, basically a screw-thread that is used to attach the needle to the end of a device, these are quite common on syringes.  See here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luer_taper

Hi, thanks for your quick response!

So, do all needles have the ability to be screwed on...? I've tried searching the big company online catalogues for 23g x 1.25 or 21g x 1.5 as this is what the manual states, but they make no reference to whether they screw on - they don't look as if they do. I assume a standard hypodermic isnt what I need?(see picture attached).

thanks very much

I think most needles will work - borrow a couple from someone and see.

I agree, although it is hard to see precisely from the picture. Luer lock needles are completely standardized, so if it is indeed matching that standard, any  Luer Lock needle (virtually all needles) will work.
