Effective inhibitor of cell proliferation - (Jun/04/2014 )

Does anyone know or worked with inhibitors which I can supplement into my cell culture to stop cell proliferation?

It is also important that the inhibitor will not effect cell viability to keep the cells alive so I can run experiments on them.

Try a double thymidine block.

You could also try Cytosine beta-D-arabinofuranoside or 5-Fluoro-2'-deoxyuridine.  Both block DNA replication, by different mechanisms.

In theory they shouldn't affect viability or cellular function, but you'll have to do some titration to find an acceptable concentration.

Thanks for the replies.  One other important thing I have to ask is how permanent is the inhibition? Few hours/days/permanent?

Double thymidine will block for as long as you keep it on I think.
