orthotopic mouse model of U251 cell line - (May/30/2014 )

Hi, everyone.

I'm fresh in developing orthotopic mouse model on the brain.

So I practiced to develop u87/nude mouse glioma model for the preparation of my  research project.

I practiced to develop brain tumor model on three nude mouse. I found no abnormal information 7 days after the surgery. However 2 of them were found dead on the 10th day and now I am so confused.

I just wonder why  two nude mouse died at such a strange time point.

And i hope to get some advice from experienced person.

I didn't detect apparent abnormality and have no experience either.

Dehydration quite likley if there is no obvious sign of anything else. With my post-op rodents I like to soak some mouse chow in a bowl of water and then place a small cup of this mushy food into the recovery cage. Some companies also make a pre-formulated "recovery gel" which our lab uses frequently as well.

And don't forget to give a little nesting material so they can build a shelter/thermoregulate/recover better. Especially important for nude mice :)
