Can Anti-IgG Horseradish peroxidase be used in a whole blood western blot assay? - (Mar/24/2014 )

Can you analyse a whole blood sample using a western blot (primary IgG custom antibody, and a secondary anti-IgG horseradish peroxidase)?

I am under the impression that the heme in blood some how interferes with the peroxidase.

But I can not find anywhere any reason why!?

Any help would be very much appreciated

I believe that you can.  The proteins have already been immobilized on the membrane before the peroxidase is added and so it is difficult for me to believe that an immobilized heme can have an effect on the HRP secondary antibody...
